A SHOULDER INJURY CHANGED MY LIFE

I was a pitcher on my high school baseball team. At the time, I was 15 years old. Midway through the season, I began to develop a severe pain in the front of my right shoulder. At first, I thought it was nothing big. I would just ice down my arm after pitching, and it would feel better. But as the season progressed, the pain became more severe, and I was unable to throw the ball across the infield let alone try to pitch. I tried ice, heat, Icy Hot, Sportscreme, Tylenol, etc. but nothing seemed to help. Something was seriously wrong.

Without hesitation, my dad recommended that I go and see his chiropractor. I thought to myself, “Why would I go to see a chiropractor? My back is not hurting.” My dad had been going to his chiropractor for several years and was confident that he could help me.

At the chiropractic office, the doctor did a thorough evaluation of my right shoulder. He also checked my spine including my neck, middle and lower back. The doctor explained to me that I had a slight tear of the right biceps tendon in the area of my right shoulder. He also mentioned that I had some misalignments of the vertebrae in my neck that were putting pressure on nerves that innervated my right shoulder. The doctor recommended a course of chiropractic adjustments and exercises for my neck and right shoulder.

Believe it or not, I was back on the mound pitching pain-free within two weeks! I was amazed by the fact that the chiropractor did not use medication and there was no surgery involved. Shortly afterwards, I began to do extensive research into chiropractic and what it was all about. Needless to say, I was very intrigued by the chiropractic philosophy and the body's inborn ability to heal itself. So intrigued in fact, I enrolled at the National College of Chiropractic. That is why I now am a chiropractor.

Thank you chiropractic.
